More poisons today. Two of the dogs that Shelter Members A and T take care of were found poisoned early in the morning. Agelos, a big wolf hound died half an hour later. Duke made it. Duke escaped dead from poisoning for the fifth time in his life. The fourth time was earlier this summer.

Both of them were vaccinated and fixed.

They had love, food and a place to sleep in Anta’s kitchen.

They could be considered lucky if someone was not trying to see them dead.

MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 2009: What a day! It was 8 o’clock in the morning when my mobile rang. A dog with foam in the mouth was trembling in a street near the central square. It was Kafetoula, a young female dog sterilised 2 months ago.I went as quickly as possible. Gave her a shot of atropine, put her in my car, called the vet to go to his office the quicker possible and took her there. Before arriving to the vet, Kafetoula was dead.

The phone rang again. Another dog was found in Dekeleias. I ran there. It was Klea, a new comer, a very frightened dog we were feeding everyday, to make her trust us. Before going back to my car to bring the injections the lady who was near her shouted-Klea was dead.

In the meantime Takis, who had arrived trying like crazy to find the other strays of the area, called me to run. Another dog, the almost puppy Sakis was found trembling. I put him in the car and went to the vet. Another call. A dog with foam in the central square. It was another female, a newcomer - I saw her in the area two days ago, for the first time. Rushed her to the vet.

While I was there, Takis brought two other strays, Hronis and Lefterakis. Thank God those four were saved. The female is still in the vet, I hope she will make it. The three males are recovering in the shelter.

At 11:30am I had to take Roberto and his new daddy to the vet. He asked me to go with them the first time because he wanted to keep taking Roberto to the vet that was looking after him so far. Roberto had some blood tests needed, and then, his daddy told the vet that he had noticed something round under the skin in his belly. The X-rays proved that poor Roberto had been shot by a hunting rifle and had many pellets under his skin and a bigger bullet from air gun. We were shocked. Who could do such a thing to that gentle dog?

On our way back his daddy wanted to visit the shelter. He wanted to take a look to our dogs because he has friends who might be interested. He already knew many of our dogs by the website. He fell in love with little Hermes (the poodle found days ago) and adopted him immediately to take to his wife as a surprise. He is aware that Hermes was found 5-6 days ago, and he agreed to bring him back in case we find his former family. Roberto and Hermes were very well together - I think they will become good friends. We don’t know Hermes that well, but we know how kind hearted Roberto is.

In the afternoon, sterilized Boobie was returned to his foster mama Vol S.

Too many things in one day! I feel exhausted.

Κε Υπουργέ,
Με αφορμή κάποιες απαντητικές επιστολές από αρμόδιες Ελληνικές Υπηρεσίες, προς Έλληνες και Ευρωπαίους πολίτες, οι οποίοι με επιστολές τους εκφράζουν την διαμαρτυρία και αγανάκτησή τους για την κατάσταση που επικρατεί στην Ελλάδα, όσον αφορά στην προστασία των ζώων γενικότερα και στα αδέσποτα ζώα συντροφιάς ειδικότερα, έχουμε να επισημάνουμε τα εξής:
Το περιεχόμενο αυτών των απαντητικών επιστολών δεν καλύπτει, δεν απαντά στα ερωτήματα, δεν δίνει την πραγματική διάσταση του προβλήματος και το κυριότερο, παραπλανά τους Ευρωπαίους πολίτες. Θεωρούμε δε, ότι είναι στερεότυπο, μονότονο και βασίζεται σε μία «φανταστική» νομοθεσία, η οποία ποτέ δεν έχει εφαρμοστεί.
Οι πλέον γνωστές και τραγικές συνθήκες διαβίωσης των αδέσποτων ζώων συντροφιάς στα Ελληνικά νησιά, στις πόλεις και στα χωριά, είναι η Ελληνική πραγματικότητα έτσι όπως την εισπράττουν οι Έλληνες αλλά και οι ξένοι τουριστικοί επισκέπτες της χώρας μας και όχι αυτή που θέλουν να παρουσιάσουν οι καλοζυγιασμένες, άνευ πολιτικού κόστους συμφέρουσες απαντήσεις, από κάποιους αναρμόδιους - απ’ ότι διαφαίνεται - υπαλλήλους των υπουργείων και των ελληνικών υπηρεσιών στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Αποτέλεσμα δε, αυτών των απαντήσεων, είναι η προσβολή της νοημοσύνης όλων των διαμαρτυρόμενων πολιτών και η αγανάκτησή τους, αφού γίνονται αποδέκτες της κοροϊδίας και των επαναλαμβανόμενων ψεμάτων εκ μέρους της Πολιτείας.
Δυστυχώς για την Ελλάδα, ενώ είναι μέλος της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, σε πολλά θέματα δεν έχει εναρμονιστεί με τις συμβάσεις που κατά καιρούς έχει υπογράψει, όπως και με το μεγάλο θέμα της προστασίας των ζώων συντροφιάς και όπως αυτό προκύπτει από την Ευρωπαϊκή Σύμβαση που η Ελλάδα υπέγραψε στις 13 Νοεμβρίου 1987 και κυρώθηκε στο ΦΕΚ Α’ 31/27.2.1992.
Κανένας δεν αρνείται την ύπαρξη νόμων, κανένας όμως από αυτούς τους νόμους δεν έχει σταθεί ικανός να ανακόψει την οπισθοδρομική πορεία της Ελλάδας σε σχέση με τα άλλα κράτη-μέλη, αφού κανένας δεν τηρείται. Η μεγάλη διαφορά των άλλων ευρωπαϊκών χωρών σε σχέση με την χώρα μας είναι ότι εκεί θεωρούν τα ζώα συντροφιάς αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι της ζωής τους και την φροντίδα για την ευζωία τους δείγμα της προόδου και του πολιτισμού τους. Και ενώ εκεί υπάρχουν νόμοι οι οποίοι τηρούνται σχεδόν με θρησκευτική ευλάβεια, υπάρχει ειδική αστυνομία ζώων, υπάρχουν υποδομές και οργανωμένα καταφύγια σε κάθε πόλη, η συνεργασία της πολιτείας και των οργάνων επιβολής του νόμου με τις φιλοζωικές οργανώσεις είναι άψογη, μα πάνω απ’ όλα υπάρχει φιλοζωική παιδεία, στην Ελλάδα η πάγια τακτική της Πολιτείας είναι να ζει την δική της «ονειρεμένη» αλήθεια και να επιμένει στο ότι έχει πολύ αποτελεσματικούς νόμους, ότι οι δήμοι συνεργάζονται και εκπονούν πρόγραμμα στειρώσεων και περιθάλψεων των αδέσποτων ζώων και ότι τα περιστατικά κακοποίησης είναι μεμονωμένα όπως συμβαίνει οπουδήποτε αλλού στον κόσμο.
Δηλώνουμε για άλλη μια φορά και θα το δηλώνουμε μέχρις ότου δούμε κάτι να αλλάζει, ότι τα περιστατικά κακοποίησης δεν είναι μεμονωμένα αλλά γενικευμένα, οι δήμοι δεν συμμορφώνονται με τις εγκυκλίους των αρμοδίων υπουργείων και την νομοθεσία και δεν ακολουθούν κανένα πρόγραμμα στειρώσεων και η κυβέρνηση δεν έχει κάνει προς το παρόν απολύτως τίποτα για να αλλάξει την δυσμενή εικόνα της χώρας μας, παρά αρκείται σε απαντητικές επιστολές χωρίς καμία ουσία.
Για όλα τα παραπάνω διαμαρτυρόμαστε έντονα, διαμαρτυρόμαστε για τις στερεότυπες, αναληθείς και παραπλανητικές απαντήσεις στις επιστολές διαμαρτυρίας Ευρωπαίων Πολιτών για την κατάσταση που επικρατεί με τα ζώα στην Ελλάδα και η οποία απέχει μακράν της αληθείας και καλούμε για ακόμη μία φορά την κυβέρνηση να αφουγκραστεί το Φιλοζωικό Κίνημα της Ελλάδας και να λάβει ουσιαστικά μέτρα που θα συμβαδίζουν πραγματικά και όχι φανταστικά με την Ευρωπαϊκή Σύμβαση για την προστασία των ζώων συντροφιάς και που θα έχουν ως αποτέλεσμα την ανατροπή της κακής φήμης της χώρας μας.
Τέλος καλούμε την κυβέρνηση και τους αρμόδιους υπουργούς να αναλογιστούν εάν η πτώση του τουρισμού εφέτος στην Ελλάδα δεν είναι προϊόν μόνο της παγκόσμιας οικονομικής κρίσης αλλά και αποτέλεσμα των δηλώσεων χιλιάδων Ευρωπαίων και όχι μόνο τουριστών, ότι δεν πρόκειται ποτέ να επισκεφτούν μία χώρα που αδιαφορεί για την προστασία των ζώων, παρά τα όσα έχει υπογράψει και για τα οποία έχει δεσμευτεί.
Θεωρώντας υποχρέωση και καθήκον μας να ενημερώσουμε με κάθε πρόσφορο τρόπο όλους τους Ευρωπαίους πολίτες για το ποια είναι η αλήθεια και τον πραγματικό τρόπο με τον οποίο η Ελληνική Πολιτεία αντιμετωπίζει μέχρι στιγμής τα αδέσποτα ζώα συντροφιάς, κοινοποιούμε αυτή την επιστολή προς πάσα κατεύθυνση και κάθε ενδιαφερόμενο σε Ελλάδα και Εξωτερικό.

Αγαπητή κ. Σταθογιάννη
Με αφορμή την από 06.08.2009 επιστολή σας με θέμα «Μεταχείριση των αδέσποτων ζώων στην Ελλάδα» και η οποία απευθύνεται στις κ.κ Diane Beijer και Sarah Capogrossi, σας κοινοποιούμε και εμείς με την σειρά μας την από 16/08/09 επιστολή της Πανελλήνιας Συντονιστικής Επιτροπής Φιλοζωικών Οργανώσεων στην Ελλάδα. Στο τέλος σας παραθέτουμε την λίστα των αποδεκτών αυτής της επιστολής.
Κα Σταθογιάννη,
Είμαστε γνώστες της Ευρωπαϊκής Σύμβασης για την Προστασία των Ζώων Συντροφιάς, καθώς και του Πρωτοκόλλου για την Ευημερία των Ζώων.
Είμαστε γνώστες του ότι τα κράτη – μέλη του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης που υπέγραψαν την προαναφερόμενη σύμβαση το έκαναν γιατί θεώρησαν ότι ο στόχος του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης είναι η πραγματοποίηση μιας πιο στενής ένωσης μεταξύ των μελών του. Γιατί θεώρησαν ότι μία κοινή και βασική αντιμετώπιση και πρακτική, που θα οδηγήσουν σε υπεύθυνη συμπεριφορά των ιδιοκτητών ζώων συντροφιάς, είναι όχι μόνο ένας στόχος επιθυμητός αλλά και ρεαλιστικός.
Είμαστε επίσης γνώστες του ότι κάθε κράτος - μέλος υποχρεούται να λάβει τα απαραίτητα μέτρα για να αποκτήσουν ισχύ οι διατάξεις αυτής της Σύμβασης.
Πάνω απ’ όλα είμαστε γνώστες, καλύτερα από τον κάθε έναν της πραγματικής κατάστασης που επικρατεί στην Ελλάδα όσον αφορά στην προστασία και ευημερία των αδέσποτων ζώων συντροφιάς.
Οι φιλοζωικές οργανώσεις ανά την Ελλάδα ζούνε αυτή την πραγματικότητα καθημερινώς και πλέον οι απαντήσεις των αρμοδίων Υπηρεσιών σε Ελλάδα και Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, έχουν καταντήσει ανέκδοτα που λέγονται στους φιλοζωικούς κύκλους, για να διασκεδάζουν τα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζουν και τα οποία με μεγάλη ανευθυνότητα και απαξίωση τους έχει φορτώσει η Πολιτεία.
Ισχυρίζεστε ότι το Διεθνές Σύμφωνο της Ευρωπαϊκής Κοινότητας δεν μπορεί να δράσει, όσον αφορά στην προστασία της ευημερίας των ζώων, γιατί αυτό δεν είναι στην πολιτική του. Όμως τα αδέσποτα ζώα της Ελλάδας που φωνάζουν για βοήθεια, πρέπει να έχουν τις ίδιες ευκαιρίες με αυτά των άλλων προηγμένων χωρών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και δεν μπορούν να περιμένουν κάτι να αλλάξει μόνο μέσα από τις συνηθισμένες βαρύγδουπες δηλώσεις ότι «η Ελλάδα είναι υποχρεωμένη σαν κράτος-μέλος της Ευρωπαικής Ένωσης, να μεριμνά για την προστασία και ευημερία τους» και η Ευρωπαϊκή Κοινότητα να μην μπορεί να ελέγξει ή να μην μπορεί να παρέμβει αν ένα μέλος της ακολουθεί ή όχι τις εκάστοτε αποφάσεις της. Αποφάσεις που έχουν λάβει εκλεγμένοι από τους Ευρωπαίους πολίτες Ευρωβουλευτές. Θα πρέπει να περάσουμε από την θεωρία στην πράξη.
Σας παρακαλούμε λοιπόν να μας ενημερώσετε ποιο είναι εκείνο το ελεγκτικό σώμα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης στο οποίο μπορεί να καταφύγει ο κάθε πολίτης που έχει έννομο συμφέρον ,αλλά και οι φιλοζωικοί φορείς, για να ζητήσει την επιβολή κυρώσεων και την λήψη μέτρων κατά της Ελλάδας, για την μόνιμη και απαράδεκτη αδιαφορία της στο θέμα της προστασίας και των δικαιωμάτων των ζώων, ώστε να υποχρεωθεί να ακολουθήσει και να εφαρμόσει τις διατάξεις της Σύμβασης και το Πρωτόκολλο.
Ως αναγνωρισμένοι φορείς του Ελληνικού Κράτους και ως εκπρόσωποι των Ευρωπαίων πολιτών που ζητούν ξεκάθαρες απαντήσεις, αναμένουμε την ανταπόκρισή σας στο αίτημά μας.

Pan-Hellenic Coordinating Committee of Animal Welfare Organizations

Prompted by replies from the responsible Greek authorities to letters from both Greek and European citizens, expressing concern and disgust in regard to the lack of adequate animal protection and more specifically to the situation with stray companion animals in Greece, we stress the following points:

The content of the authorities’ letters does not answer the questions posed, does not describe the true extent of the problem and more importantly, it misleads European citizens. The replies are stereotypical, lack substance and are based on a ‘phantom’ law that has never been implemented.

The tragic conditions of existence for stray companion animals on islands, in cities and villages, as witnessed by both Greeks and foreigners is the Greek reality - not the answers of those who couch their replies in politically advantageous platitudes, be it employees of Greek Ministries or Greeks serving in the European Union. These replies insult the intelligence of those who express their disgust as they become the recipients of deception and lies on the part of the Greek State.

Unfortunately Greece, while a member of the EU, has not, in many cases complied with the conventions it has periodically signed. This also applies to the huge subject of protection of companion animals, an EU convention that Greece signed on 13 November, 1987 and ratified in the Official Journal of the Hellenic Republic A31/27.2 1992.

Nobody denies the existence of the relevant laws. None of the laws, however, has been capable of halting the backward course of Greece in relation to other member states, since none is observed. The big difference between other European countries and Greece is that they regard companion animals as an integral part of life, and their care and welfare as an example of progress and culture. Other States have laws that are observed with almost religious fervor, special police who deal with animals, infrastructure and organized shelters in every city, excellent collaboration among the State, legal bodies and animal welfare organizations and, above all, animal welfare education. In Greece, the State continues to live in a fantasy world, insisting that it has effective laws, that the municipalities collaborate and initiate sterilization programmes and care for stray animals and that the incidents of animal cruelty are isolated incidents as elsewhere in the world.

Once again, we state and will continue to state, until we see changes, that incidents of animal cruelty are not isolated but generalized. The municipalities do not conform with the encyclical from the responsible Ministries and Greek law. They do not undertake sterilization programmes and the government has currently done absolutely nothing in order to change the unfavourable picture of Greece abroad, despite satisfying itself with letters of response which have absolutely no substance.

For all of the above reasons, we strongly object to the stereotypical, untruthful and misleading letters sent to European citizens in response to their protests at the situation that prevails in regard to animals in Greece. The official Greek response deviates strongly from the truth and we ask the Government to listen to the animal welfare movement in Greece and to take substantial measures that will genuinely comply with the European Convention on the protection of companion animals and that will result in a reversal of Greece’s bad reputation.

Finally we call on the Government and responsible Minister to consider whether the fall in tourism in Greece this year is the result not only of the international economic crisis but also due to declarations from thousands of Europeans, not only tourists, that they will never visit a country indifferent to the protection of animals, a country with its signature on a convention to which it has never committed.

We consider it our obligation to use all available means to inform all European citizens of the truth and the real way the Greek State deals with companion animals and will distribute this letter to all interested parties, in Greece and abroad.

In regard to your letter of 06.08.2009 on the subject of “Treatment of stray animals in Greece” addressed to Mrs. Diane Beijer and Sarah Capogrossi we, in turn, write to you on behalf of the Hellenic Coordinating Committee of Animal Welfare Organizations listed among the recipients below.

Mrs Stathogianni,

We are acquainted with the European Convention for the Protection of Companion Animals, as well as, the Protocol for Animal Welfare.

We are aware that Member States – Members of the European Council who signed the Convention did so because they regarded the objective of the Council as the realization of a closer union between members and because they consider that a common policy and practice leading to responsible behavior by companion animal guardians is not only a desirable objective, but also a realistic one.

We also know that each Member State is obliged to undertake the essential measures required for the provisions of this Convention to be put into force.

In addition to all the above, we are also more aware than any other body, of the real situation prevailing in Greece in regard to the protection and welfare of stray companion animals.

Greek animal welfare organizations live this reality daily and official replies from the authorities in both Greece and the EU remain anecdotal in animal welfare circles as they continue to face the problems firmly placed on their shoulders by an irresponsible Greek State.

You claim that the International Agreement of the European Community cannot act in regard to protection of animal welfare because this is outside its policy. However stray animals in Greece, who cry out for help, should have the same opportunities as those of more advanced EU countries and they cannot wait for change only in the form of statements such as “ Greece, as member of the European Union is obliged to provide for their protection and welfare” and for a European Community that is unable to control or intervene if one of its members fails to undertake its responsibilities, responsibilities that have been voted on by European Members of Parliament. The theory must be put into practice.

Thus, we ask you to inform us of the relevant EU controlling body so that every citizen who has the legal right, including animal welfare institutions, may ask for the imposition of sanctions and measures against Greece for her continued unacceptable indifference on the subject of the protection and rights of animals so that Greece is forced to undertake and implement the regulations of the both the Convention and the Protocol.

As official representative of both the Greek State and European Citizens, we ask for clear answers and await your response.

Adoptions from the past week:

Roberto was adopted by a young couple in a house with garden near Parnitha. His new Mama is Greek and his Daddy is Jordanian.

Gavrilos was adopted by a middle aged couple in Tripoli. He now lives in a farm of 5000 m2 and his sister Danai was adopted by a family in Aspropyrgos.

Artemis is now living in Glyfada. Her new Mama is a young lady from Seattle who is living with her parents in Greece.

Carmen was adopted by a young Italian couple. She lives in an apartment in Lycavittos and is going to have a lot of trips in Italy!

Orestis has a new home with his Mama Teresa, and now they both live at KitsKitty’s house with rescue puppy Snickers, DeeDee & Zoey Ramone, and the 3-legged maniacs Miah and Kelly.

It was a fantastic week for adoptions!

It was a slow summer night at the Shelter. I managed to get my act together and get down to hang out the sign at 7:00pm. Kiki K. was already inside giving night-time medicine and meaty snacks to the dogs.

All the dogs seemed in good spirits, even Van wasn’t growling. He did not find a foster this summer while his Mom was in the hospital and is not enjoying his time on the chain. We will find out at the end of this month whether the owner he has lived with for 10 years will be healthy and able to take him home. If the prognosis is not good, he will stay with us until he is adopted.

Vol S came to dogwalk with me. She is recovering from her feral cat attack and with good humour asks if I like Zombie movies! The side of her face is still very yellow and bruised. Though a newcomer to animal rescue, Vol S is showing amazing strength and drive securing safe homes for the feral cat population that lives next to her home near the Perissos station. Literally overnight half of the feline population was poisoned in an apparent yearly cull hosted by the kindhearted neighbours. Vol S kicked into gear and went door-to-door of the adjacent businesses asking for information and background on the situation. She then befriended a local lady (Local J) who feeds the colony and a night-time security guard whose duty it was to remove carcasses, and together they removed piles of poison that had been left out again. She spoke with me on how to save the rest of the cats and I must admit I was really no help. New volunteers always have the best intentions. It would seem logical to go door-to-door asking for help, raising money from local businesses, postering, making adoption ads, etc. but anyone who has done this knows that your time would be better spent pulling out your teeth. So I gave her some contact numbers and she was in business. A call to SPAZ put her in touch with a great couple in the south who have a feral colony on their expansive property and were willing to take as many as Vol S and Local J can round up. Easier said than done! Feral cats only come out around 2am so Vol S must stay up that late, take down her carriers and coax with tuna the cats to her, grab and box them! She learned that night not to attempt with bare arms. It only took one aggressive Mama protecting her babies to run up one side of her and down the other to have Vol S running to the taxi stand at the local kiosk to get to the hospital. 2 hours later she was back home with horrible bruising and bite marks - BUT - she got her gal! That Mama, her babies and others were safely secured and driving south to their new home by the crack of dawn by Local J. A Happy Ending to a action packed evening!

We discovered that Elenora had been moved from her cage to an outside chain because a new dog with sutures needed a solo space to heal in. This put Elenora below our dogwalking board and unsupervised in the afternoon, she had managed to chew off the bottom half of the labels and some of the corkboard frame. Looks like its time for a new board. Sorry Angie but you won’t be getting that one back!

Sweet bouncy Annie is not contagious anymore! She had a skin condition that gave her red scaly patches and lost hair when she was found. Now after a couple of weeks of medicine she is touchable again and we played like crazy. I gave her an extra long walk with lots of hugging.

Assisted Kiki K. give 2 injections to Roberto. He is having treatment for kalazar. Contrary to what some people think kalazar is not a death sentence for a dog - well for a street dog it is - but for a pet or shelter dog it is not. Roberto is a big vibrant house-trained dog and he will be as good as new very soon with proper treatment. Kalazar is only detrimental in his future travel plans as he will not be able to cross borders but not every dog is a jaunting off every summer for vacations. His future family will know and understand this when they adopt him.

The only visitors we had on this night were three ladies who came to visit Tina. Tina was in a great mood and laid down for some belly scratches and lots of tail wagging. You would never know that she was literally dead a week ago. There was some concern about her ability to go to the bathroom after the accident as she needed to have her bladder pressured to force urination for a few days but yesterday she went on her own. We have our fingers crossed that this is a good sign of the spinal cord healing.

It got dark around 8:30pm so we had to pack it in. There is no outside electricity at the shelter so we can only volunteer safely while there is daylight.

Yesterday someone threw a rabbit inside the shelter. Maybe it was a lady who called me for taking a rabbit. I explained to her that we couldn’t keep it because there was already a rabbit in the shelter, and in case they weren’t of the same sex, they would give birth to many rabbits that would make our lives very difficult with the dogs barking at them.
Any way, same lady or not, the rabbit was thrown apparently near the place where the two black and white puppies live. Maybe it was dizzy or not suspicious of the danger. The fact is that the puppies killed it and ate a big piece of it.
We are all very angry because of the way some people treat their animals when they don’t want to keep them anymore.
We are angry because they made the two puppies taste flesh and blood.
We are angry because for one more time, people try to solve their problems by throwing them to our shoulders.

Yesterday some very smart people, who apparently don’t seem to care about living creatures, threw a rabbit over the fence into the shelter. The two new Salt & Pepper puppies (who themselves were thrown over the same piece of fence in the back area of the shelter) probably thought it was something to play with and killed it, before any of the volunteers were able to find it.

Makes me think if some people actually think before they act, probably not.

RIP Mr. Rabbit.

Which brings to mind an incident from a month ago, where a family insisted on bringing a GOOSE into the shelter. Not even after showing them the inside of the dog cages did they understood that a goose cannot share a cage with large stray street dogs and enjoy life freely!

Of course we wish, we could take all those animals, but we are already overcrowded as it is and there is certainly no room for animals that could get killed.

So please read the sign on the door and do not think of bringing other animals to us, the horrid abusive zoo is long gone and we need our energy to care for our dogs and cats!
